1. What is the Young Americas Forum?

The Young Americas Forum is a permanent, open and inclusive platform for the youth of the Americas to actively participate as social actors in the Summits of the Americas, the OAS General Assemblies and other high-level meetings.


 
2. What is the purpose of the VI Young Americas Forum?

Through the VI edition of the Forum, the youth of the Americas will have the opportunity to connect with their governments, representatives of the private sector and civil society, as well as multilateral agencies; thus consolidating an ecosystem of youth development, strengthening democratic governance and promoting the Inter-American agenda.

The VI Young Americas Forum is organized by the Young Americas Business Trust (YABT) with the support of the Summits of the Americas Secretariat of the Organization of American States (OAS) and the host country of the IX Summit, the United States.


 
4. What is the Young Americas Business Trust (YABT)?

The Young Americas Business Trust is an international non-profit organization based in Washington, DC, that works in cooperation with the Organization of American States (OAS) to promote the social and economic development of youth in the Western Hemisphere and the rest of the world.


 
5. What participation channels will allow me to contribute to and participate in the VI Young Americas Forum?

The available channels of participation that bring the opinions and concerns of youth directly to the VI Young Americas Forum are:

Youth Dialogues: On-site or hybrid events, co-organized by YABT and youth networks to bring youth voices to the Summit process. Youth Dialogues application form available here.

Virtual consultation: To facilitate the participation of as many young people as possible and fuel the debate, virtual consultations are an open and accessible channel to do so, available here.

Associated events: Activities with different formats that take place in parallel, where youth have a meaningful participation and share their contributions. These events aim to help the organizers present to the YABT a summary of the main results and nurture the perspectives and concerns that are being carried forward.

7. How can I participate in the VI Young Americas Forum?

The application process to participate in the VI Young Americas Forum is open until May 20, 2022. Applications are received through the following form: click here.


 
8. When will the selection results be announced?

The results will be communicated in two phases, the first within two weeks of the official cut-off date of April 30 and the second after the close of applications on May 20. The YABT will send a letter of acceptance to the selected youth delegates via email.


 
9. Is it necessary to belong to a youth network to apply for the VI Young Americas Forum?

No, it is not necessary to belong to a youth network to apply as a Youth Delegate to the VI Youung Americas Forum.


 
10. What are the requirements to apply for the VI Young Americas Forum?

a) Be a young citizen of one of the Member States of the Organization of American States (OAS), young people between the ages of 18 and 34;

b) Completing the application form available here. Answering key questions about the reasons why you are interested in being part of the VI Forum and your post participation plan in the Forum.


 
11. How can I participate in the VI Young Americas Forum?

The VI Young Americas Forum will be held in a hybrid format: virtual and on-site.


 
12. Does YABT support or financially cover expenses related to my participation in the VI Young Americas Forum?

No. Each delegate is responsible for all expenses related to transportation, lodging, visa, food, medical insurance, among other expenses related to the stay in Los Angeles.


 
13. Is a registration or admission fee required to participate in the VI Forum?

No. There is no fee to attend the VI Young Americas Forum.


 
14. Will YABT support the selected delegates with the visa or any other visa procedures required for participation in the VI Young Americas Forum?

No. Each Youth Delegate is responsible for obtaining and covering the corresponding visa and permit fees.

15. Where can I get the agenda for the VI Young Americas Forum?

The agenda for the VI Youth Forum will be sent to the e-mail addresses of selected youth delegates.


 
16. Will a certificate of participation as a youth delegate of the VI Young Americas Forum be issued?

Yes, certificates will be sent after the VI Young Americas Forum via email to virtual and in-person attendees.


 
17. Where in Los Angeles will the event be held?

The VI Young Americas Forum will be held on June 8 and 9, 2022, at the Magic Box Conference Center, located in The Reef Building in Los Angeles, California.
